Manchester Day Parade 2012

Manchester Day Parade 2012 will take place on Sunday 10 June and will see a host of community groups and Manchester residents create a spectacular parade that will line the city centre streets.  The Manchester Day Parade is an annual event that celebrates all there is about the great city of Manchester.  The day has everything for all the family and will promote all things Mancunian and celebrate the great Northern city of Manchester.

The Manchester Day Parade aims to be bigger and better than last year when over 70,000 people came to watch in the glorious June sunshine.  Over 3,000 participants from almost 100 Manchester based charities, companies and community groups brought alive the city centre streets and the aim is to do the same in 2012.  The theme for the Manchester Day Parade 2012 is ‘The Sky’s the limit – a celebration of heroic achievements’ which I am sure will be a great success as the streets are awash with floats and costumes.

The city of Manchester is a city of heroes and the Manchester Day Parade 2012 aims to celebrate the achievements of men, women and children in the fields of science and technology, music, culture and the arts as well as industry, sport and the natural world.   The last 12 months has seen some great success for the city of Manchester all of which will be celebrated.

Manchester Day Parade 2012 will start in Castlefield at 2pm where the parade will start its journey around Manchester City Centre.  From Castlefield the route will follow Deansgate then Cross Street and on to Albert Square which is home to the iconic Manchester Town Hall.  Albert Square will be a sea of entertainment for all ages.  The parade will then follow a route back to Castlefield where it will end although that will not be the end of the celebrations as events will be held across the city centre throughout the day.

The Manchester Day Parade has become one of the most popular events in the cities calendar and each year has been bigger and better than the last.  The first Manchester Day Parade was held in 2010 and due to its continued success it will continue in to the future with the backing of local business, Manchester Council and community groups.

After such awful weather in the run up to the Manchester Day Parade 2012 no one knows how it will turn out on Sunday but one thing is for sure it will be great celebration of Manchester.
